Some of you know me as Raskolnikov from the LS forum. I'm a former love-shy from the UK and I've had experience with women from different cultures both inside and outside the West. I recently read Sex and Culture by Unwin and found it interesting, though some of the conclusions drawn about the present seem a bit questionable.

I remember you. I was Apparition on LS. I might be mistaken, but didn't you also post on the incel board fairly recently? Did you finally get fed up with both places?

Humanity.
I've never posted on the Incel forum, the guy using my name there isn't me, I don't think he's intending to impersonate me he just picked the same name. I still lurk at LS though but I don't find the motivation to post anymore. Drealm. If by success you mean getting relationships and sex then yes you could call it "success", it doesn't feel like success to me though it's just a fact of life. Regarding Unwin I find the conclusion that an end to female premarital chastity will necessarily result in the collapse of civilization after three generations to be somewhat questionable, even if it happened in the past it doesn't mean it would happen now. What is the causal link between an end to female premarital chastity and civilizational collapse? Though female premarital chastity is certainly desirable both in a partner and in a society and seems to be have been a necessary prerequisite for the establishment of any higher culture I'm not convinced it's essential for the survival of modern civilization, or even for it's advancement. |

Is there any better way to speculate about the future than to apply past experience? Do you reject inductive reasoning? If yes, then how can you make any statements about the future at all? Causality can never be proven in social things. But one can come up with (unprovable) causal explanations. In this case, the end of female premarital chastity leads to a rise in promiscuity which destroys the ability of men to cooperate which causes civilization to collapse. That technology itself isn't enough can be seen in any third world country today. They are corrupt and without rule of law. The West is clearly headed in this direction. |

No there is no better way and of course I don't reject induction, but while the signs of societal decay are everywhere I don't see it collapsing either. Perhaps this will change in a generation or two from now, I'm uncertain. We are the second generation of a promiscuous culture, the third isn't far off. What do you think of China? Does that not qualify as a rising civilization? Men and especially women there are becoming increasingly promiscuous, female premarital chastity is rapidly declining, does this not contradict the idea that female chastity is necessary for a rising culture? Why does promiscuity, especially the premarital kind lead to the destruction of the ability of men to cooperate? I saw a lot more backstabbing and lack of trust in Pakistan than I did in the UK or especially Japan. |

Yes I agree that the collapse will take a long time. But we will see plenty of economic crises along the way and I expect a major one in this decade. So there are immediate consequences that one can see and act on. China is the least feminist and least promiscuous major country in the world today. That is why it is rising. Promiscuity is quite new to China and still limited to sophisticated urban types. Since Mao destroyed Confucianism, China has no real defense against feminism, so I expect it grow slowly in China. But China should probably continue growing for another 10 to 20 years before feminism and promiscuity grow to the point that growth ends. I haven't been to Pakistan, but polygamy (with genders balanced) causes mistrust for the same reason that promiscuity does. Anyway, even monogamy doesn't necessarily cause trust. The only certainty is that promiscuity causes mistrust. For men to cooperate, there must be reasonable equality, especially sexually. It makes no evolutionary sense for a man who is losing out sexually to cooperate with sexually successful men. Women have a limited reproductive capacity and by fooling around before marriage they are unequally allocating that capacity to men. Yes, birth control may change this, but our emotions evolved before birth control. Monogamous marriage to virgin brides is the most equitable sexual system, so all men have a motivation to support a society with this system. Also, one cannot really separate premarital promiscuity from adultery because female premarital promiscuity greatly increases the probability of adultery. And I think it is obvious how adultery destroys trust between men. |
